When I was a child and my parents shopping, I saw the music box in the window would always stop outside the window, hands lying on the window side, the pure eyes shining, the mouth could not help but sound praise, thinking “this music box is so beautiful, if I can have it how good ah.” The ear gently close to the window can occasionally hear the flowing out of the crisp and sweet music, feel as if they suddenly fell into a wonderful music world.
Maybe owning a music box is every child’s dream. You will feel that it has a wonderful power in it, in such a small box, since it will come out so exciting voice, like a genie is telling you its story, so graceful and beautiful, so people obsessed.
Then this lesson let us enter the wonderful world of music together, to feel the fun and beauty that music brings us!

1.Software Design
Import Graphics
(1) Open the LaserMake editing software, click “Gallery – Polygon” select the heart shape and drag the blank interface;
(2) Click the “equal ratio” lock on the menu bar above the lock software, modify the size of the heart, and change the width to 180mm (you can also modify it according to your own needs)
Draw the border bar
(1) Draw a 250*40mm rectangle as the border of the heart-shaped music box (tip: the border here must be able to accurately surround the entire heart, so design its length according to the size of the heart)
(2) Draw a small 10*3 rectangle as the frame of the cassette and copy the array according to the requirements of the illustration.
【The purpose of spacing zero is to accurately position each card position and reduce errors.】
(3) After the array replication is completed, place the eight small rectangles according to the following positions;
(4) Continue to remove the excess small borders according to the requirements in the picture below to form a toothed bayonet.
(5)Select the whole border and click “Shape – Welding” on the left menu bar of the software to complete the welding.
(6) Use the function of “Draw Bessel Lines and Curves” to draw a line 33mm long and two lines 16.5mm long.
(Tip: First click to draw a point, pull the mouse, the interface will appear a line, then you need to carefully observe its straightness, the line is confirmed, click the left mouse button to draw a point does not move, and then click the right button to end the drawing. After the drawing is completed, observe whether the size of the line has a wide value, if so, the line is not a straight line, and the final cut out of the graph will have an error.)
(7) After the three straight lines are drawn, place them in the border according to the position shown in the following figure.
(8)Use the function of “Array copy” to copy these three lines and make them cover in the border. As shown.
(Specifications are horizontal number 55, vertical number 1, spacing 1.5, specifications can be set and modified according to the length of the border.)
(9)Weld after drawing a 3*20mm rectangle placed at the end of the border.
(10)Copy and paste the already designed border and flip it vertically (” Rotate – flip vertically “)
Heart-shaped gear bayonet
(1)Follow the steps for drawing the gear bayonet and draw a gear bayonet again. Move it roughly to the lower tip of the heart and rotate them to an Angle parallel to the lower tip using the “Shape – Rotate Graph” function.
(2)Once the rotation is complete, move it to the bottom tip to see if it fits (there may be a slight error)
(3) When the fit is correct, copy and paste it, rotate it horizontally, and place it on the other side of the heart at the bottom tip.
(4) After the fit is correct, weld the gear bayonet on the heart (as shown)
(Tip: when welding, directly click on the small box and select “Welding”, there is no need to select the whole graph)
(5) Copy and paste the design after it is finished.
Punching
(1) Start by drawing three circles, one with a diameter of 7mm and two with a diameter of 3mm. (where the 7mm circle is the wind-up hole and the 3mm circle is the screw hole)
(2) Draw another rectangle to measure the location distance between the two screw holes. (The size of the rectangle shown here is 20*1.5mm)
Parameter Settings
After the design is finished, set the layer parameters and adjust the parameter positions (wire first and cut later)
2. Machine processing demonstration
The design files saved in the above demonstration are respectively imported into the laser cutting machine for processing. (Tip: remember to adjust the focal length before processing to avoid the situation of impenetrable cutting.)
3.Splice assembly
(1) First, the music box movement is installed in the heart with holes.
(2)Use hot glue to wrap the frame strip around the outside of the heart.
(3) The other heart-shaped plate is also hot glued to it to complete the assembly.
(4) Thinking afterclass
1.How does a music box work?
2.What shape can you make other than a heart-shaped music box?
3. Music boxes are too boring, what can you do to make your music box look more rich?

3.1Music World -- Heart shaped music box
(1)Teaching analysis
Having a music box is probably the dream of every child, whether it is a boy or a girl. When we were young, we dreamed that we could have a delicate music box, listen to the music flowing out of the music box, and put ourselves in the music world.
This special lesson will take music box as the theme. We all know that music can cultivate people’s sentiments, no matter adults or children. But music often has a bigger effect on children than it does on adults. According to researchers, music can develop children’s imagination, creativity, hearing, language and memory skills. Music learning promotes all kinds of activities. Not that listening to Beethoven will make you smarter, but that music has a very comprehensive promoting effect. Music is an art form, and when we combine art and science, an unexpected miracle or wonderful chemical reaction can occur. So what kind of amazing chemistry happens? We’ll have to go into the course and find out.
In this course, we still design the music box around the LaserMaker laser editing software, and cut out the design drawing with a tight and accurate laser machine, so as to mobilize the enthusiasm of students and let them assemble it. In the process of learning, we will not let the students operate according to the textbooks, but first guide them to think, in the production of music box before the first to do what preparatory work, such as design the shape of the music box, choose what music? And so on observation and thinking, that is, cultivate the child’s artistic sentiment but also exercise the child’s thinking ability, hands-on ability. Further enhance their comprehensive ability, so that they gradually become a group of creative small makers.

(6) Teaching process
1. Teaching introduction
Guide students into the topic of this lesson by asking questions:
1. What is a music box?
The earliest music boxes were called music boxes, also called octaves and self-songs.
It was a mechanical sounding instrument, and by turning a spring or crank, the box could make a crisp music sound.
2. What is the source of the music box?
They date back to medieval Europe during the Renaissance. At that time, in order to make the clock tower of the church, the mechanical device of the size of the clock was called “the group of bells that can make sound”.
3.What kind of music box do people like?

(3)Splicing and assembling: Distribute tools in groups and guide students to complete the assembly of works by themselves.
(7)Feedbackinclass
1. How does the music box work?
The main part of the music box is composed of power source (spring or crank and other power source), sound cylinder, sound board, damping, bottom plate, transmission mechanism and other parts. The spring drives the drum to rotate, and the solder joint on the drum moves the edge of the chip thin strip, vibrates to make a sound, and turns down to form a movement. The roller can be regarded as a musical score, and the maker will add solder spots to the roller according to the musical score. The chip, on the other hand, can be seen as a piano key, which cuts thin strips (frequencies) of different lengths on the same piece of material. The more thin strips on the chip, the higher the number of notes, the richer the timbre and the better the tune.
2. In addition to making heart-shaped music boxes, what other shapes can you make music boxes?
3. Music box is too boring, what can you do to make your music box look more vivid?
