Leaf Carving

In the previous lesson, we were fascinated by the charm of laser crafting, learned the method to make internet-famous bamboo tubes, and also mastered the usage of the contour extraction drawing tool in Lasermaker. Today, the laser expert will continue to share with you the beginner’s course of “LaserMaker Laser Crafting”: the production method of leaf carving.

“One leaf, one world.” Using the leaf as a carrier, we have created a story by carving vivid paintings on the pure and beautiful green leaves. This issue brings you the work “Slam Dunk Master”!

Ⅰ. Size Analysis

With the help of a ruler, we measured the processable area of the leaf, which is 80mm long and 40mm wide. Therefore, when drawing the design, we must not exceed this processing range.

Ⅲ. Laser Modeling

(1) In the “Function Area” at the top, click on “File”, then click “Open” and double-click to open the image you wish to carve, as shown in the figure below:

(2) Select the image “Slam Dunk Master,” left-click on “Contour Extraction” in the toolbar, and delete the image and any excess graphics, leaving only the outline, as shown in the figure below:

(3) Select the image “Slam Dunk Master,” then left-click on “Image Extraction” in the toolbar. Adjust the DPI of the image to 300 to make it clearer, as shown in the figure below:

(4) Select the contour, and left-click on the layer panel at the bottom left to change the color of the contour layer to red, as shown in the figure below:

(5) Double-click the red image layer in the “Processing Panel” on the lower right, and set the material, thickness, and process to Basswood, 0.6mm, and Outlining, respectively. Then, double-click the black image layer in the same panel, and set the material, thickness, and process to Basswood, 0.6mm, and Cutting, as shown in the figure below:

In the process of completing this project, we have learned how to use the 【Image Extraction】 drawing tool in the LaserMaker software. Drawing and modeling are not difficult, so everyone should definitely try it out and practice more!
