1. If you were asked to make a carousel music box, how would you make it? What materials would you choose to make it?
(2) Do it by hand
1.Software Design
(1) Open the design file of the “box” in LaserMaker and move each part into place.
Punching
(1) Draw a circle with a diameter of 6.5 * 6.5 as a wind-up hole for placing the wind-up during installation
(2) Draw two circles with a diameter of 3.15 as screw holes for placing the spring during installation.
(3) During the design process, a 19*1.5 rectangle can be drawn to measure the distance between the two screw holes (as shown below)
(4) Roughly adjust the position of the hole according to the size of the music box movement (the following figure adjusts the hole position using the function of “rotation”)
(Tip: the middle spring hole must be located in the middle)
Rotating base
(1) Draw two circles with a diameter of 100mm for the disc;
(2) Draw four circles with a diameter of 2.7 as small holes on the disc and arrange them diagonally
(3) Draw two circles with a diameter of 30mm, one of which modifies the layer color and is placed on the rotating base
(4) Draw a 7 × 25mm oval on the other small circle for clockwork slot.
The horse
(1) Import the “horse” file and filter your favorite horses from it;
(2) Sort all the parts to finish the design.
Parameter setting
After the design is finished, set the layer parameters and adjust the parameter positions (wire first and cut later)
2.Machine demonstration
(1)Import the design file demonstrated above into the laser cutting machine for processing.
(Tip: Remember to adjust the focal length before processing to avoid impenetrable cutting.)
3.Splicing assembly
(1) Take out the spring handle of the music box movement and install the music box movement on the parts shown in the picture with screws.
(2)Assemble the box according to the specifications (as shown below)
(3) Use hot glue or white latex to attach the pony to the stick (hot glue recommended)
(4)Attach the small stick with the pony to the two original boards respectively (pay attention to the direction of the pony)
(5) Insert the wind-up handle into the small circle.
(6) Attach the assembled base to the circle using hot glue or white latex
Spin the carousel, and the musical carousel is done!
(3)Think after class
1. How do we find out by making a carousel? Please retell it briefly. For example, how does a carousel combine with a music box?
2. How to make your carousel look more beautiful and have personality?

(5)Teaching process
1. Teaching introduction
1. If you were asked to make a carousel music box, how would you make it? What kind of material would you rotate to make it?
Watch the video: After watching this video, are you already eager to make your own musical windmill? Now let’s get into production!

4.Student operation
(1)Software design: Guide the students to complete the design of the windmill structure, and assist the students to transfer the file named by name and student number to the matching computer of the laser cutting machine.
(2)Machine processing: Guide students to complete the machine processing steps in the order of completing the design.
(3)Splicing and Assembly: Distribute tools in groups and guide students to complete the assembly of works independently.
(6) Feedback with the class
