1.3 Magic Brush Marliang -- Airplane inventor

(1) Practice

Based on what we learned in lesson one, let’s make a fighter jet in this lesson! (BF109).

(1) (1)Thinking before class

1. In terms of use, what are the two types of aircraft?

3. Do it by hand

1. Make a single silhouette fighter jet

(1) Sketch the fighter jet in your mind.

(Tip: Draw a side view of the fighter)

(2) Use the mobile APP “Scanning Almighty King” to scan the painted train and import it into the laser software LasrMaker in the computer.

(3) First, click “Picture – Crop” on the menu bar above the software to crop out the blank part.

(4) Click “Picture- Outline” to sketch out the outline, and select the inner outline to delete it.

(5) Double-click the layer parameter area on the right side of the software to set the parameters of the layer.

(6) After completing the above Settings, import it into the machine for processing, and the single piece of train will be made successfully!

2. Make a three-dimensional version of the fighter jet

(1) Design the fighter’s large and small wheels (called landing gear) and small wooden rings, and make multiple small wooden rings with the function of array replication. Finally draw a perfect circle with a diameter of 3mm respectively right in the middle of the wheels (landing gear) of the fighter.

(The large wheel sizes are circles with a diameter of 15.53mm and the small wheel sizes are circles with a diameter of 11mm.)

(2)Use the “welding” function to design two welded plates for the fighter jet.
(The dimensions of the welded plate are 22*55mm and the dimensions of the card are 10*3mm.)

Draw the tail and main wings of the fighter

3) Draw a 50 by 20mm rectangle for splicing the tail section of the fighter.

(4) Click the “Draw Seibel curves and lines” function in the left toolbar of the software to draw the main wing of the fighter in the interface (one side can be drawn first).

(In the drawing process, click the left mouse button to trace the point, and then drag to the appropriate place to trace the point, do not release the left mouse button immediately, hold the left mouse button and drag, you can draw the arc, draw the mouse to the appropriate arc, then release the mouse, you can press the right mouse button to end the drawing.)

(5) Copy and paste the wing for mirror processing, draw a 22*95mm rectangle, and use the “welding” function to weld the wing to the rectangle, the other side of the wing the same welding operation.

(6) Draw the corresponding bayonet and place it according to the position shown.

(The dimensions are ①:20*2.80 ②:35 *3 ③: 10*2.7, respectively)

(7)Mirror the image at the end.

After the design of all parts is completed, the design drawing is imported into the machine for processing.

(8)Splice the welded plate, main wing and tail to the cut fighter and use hot glue or white latex to glue them together.

(9)Attach the big and small wheels to the front and rear of the fighter using small sticks and small wooden rings.

(Large wheels in front, small wheels in back)

3. Machine processing

The design files saved in the above demonstration are respectively imported into the laser cutting machine for processing. 

Tip: remember to adjust the focal length before processing to avoid the situation of impenetrable cutting.

4. Works upgrade

Add motor

(1) Glue the small motor to the front of the fighter and install a propeller on the rotating shaft for pushing the fighter forward.

(2) Connect the positive and negative wires on the battery box to the small motor.

1. Teaching introduction

→ Guide students to know the basic structure of a fighter by asking questions:

(1)In terms of use, airplanes can be divided into what two categories?

According to the use of the division, aircraft can be divided into civil aircraft and military aircraft, civil aircraft value passenger planes, cargo planes, etc.; military aircraft refers to fighters, bombers and so on.

(2) What are the differences between civil aircraft and military aircraft?

Volume: airliners are large, fighters are small

Usage: Airliners are used for commercial passenger transportation, while fighter jets are used for air combat.
Maneuverability: airliners have poor maneuverability, fighters have good maneuverability.

(3)What is the basic structure of a fighter jet

Fuselage, main wing, horizontal tail, vertical tail, air intake, engine, landing gear, radar, cockpit, fire control system, communication system, machine gun, missile launching hanger, etc.

(4) What do you know about fighter jets?

America’s F-22, China’s J-31, Sweden’s JAS-39 and so on…

2. Software design demonstration

Guide the students to review the main content of lesson 1 and teach the new operating points

Make a single outline fighter demonstration

(1)Use the mobile APP “Scan Almighty King” to scan the finished drawing and import it into the laser editing software LaserMaker. First, click “Picture-Crop” on the menu bar above the software to crop out the blank part, and then click “Picture -outline” to describe the outline of the image.

(2)In the layer parameter area on the right of the software, select No output image, box out the inner outline and delete it, leave the outer outline, and then select output image.

(3) Double-click the layer parameter area on the right side of the software to set the parameters of the layer.

Make a stereoscopic fighter demonstration

(1)Design the fighter’s large and small wheels (called landing gear) and small wooden circles, and make multiple small wooden circles with the features copied by the array.

(The large wheel size is a 15.53mm diameter circle, and the small wheel size is a 11mm circle.)

(2) Use the “welding” function to design the welded plate of the fighter.

(The dimensions of the welded plate are 22*55mm and the *iR is 10*3mm.)

(3) Draw a positive circle with a diameter of 3mm each right in the middle of the wheels (landing gear) of the fighter.

Draw the wings and tail of the fighter

(4) First draw a 50 by 20mm rectangle for splicing the tail section of the fighter.

(5) Draw another 22*95mm rectangle to draw the wings of the fighter using the “Draw Seibel curves and lines” feature.

(In the drawing process, first click the left mouse button tracing point, and then drag to the appropriate place to trace point, do not immediately release the left mouse button, hold the left mouse button and drag, you can draw the arc, depict to the appropriate arc can release the mouse, the end of the painting can press the right mouse button to end.)

(6)Copy and paste the wing for mirror processing and use the “welding” function to weld the wing to the rectangle, the other side of the wing the same welding operation.

(5) Draw the corresponding bayonet, and place it according to the position shown, and mirror the image.

3. Machine processing demonstration

4. Student operation, Teacher assistance

(1)Hand-drawing: Organize to issue pen and paper to each student for hand-drawing creation within 10 minutes. Arrange at least two assistants to help check whether the edge of hand-drawn works is clearly closed, and use mobile phones to collect and import them into their own computers.

(2)Software design: Guide students to complete the complete design, assist in naming the design file with student number and name and transfer it to the matching computer of the laser cutting machine.

(3)Machine processing: Guide students to complete machine processing steps according to the order of completion of the design.

(4) Assembly: Distribute tools in groups and guide students to assemble their works independently.

5. Works upgrade

Add small motor

(1)Use glue to attach the small motor to the front of the fighter and attach a propeller to the turning shaft.

(2) Connect the positive and negative wires on the battery box to the small motor.
