China’s National Day is just around the corner! As the holiday approaches, the entire nation is filled with a festive atmosphere. This holiday, rooted in a momentous occasion, embodies our blessings for the establishment of our country.
National Day emerged with the founding of the People’s Republic of China. On October 1, 1949, the Central People’s Government was established, marking the birth of an independent nation. Prior to this, China endured a long period of internal and external conflicts, causing immense suffering for its people. The establishment of the state signified the rebuilding of order. Every year on October 1, flag-raising ceremonies are held across the country to celebrate the founding of the People’s Republic. In significant anniversary years, parades and military displays are organized to commemorate this historic event.
Of course, China is not alone; every country has its corresponding national day, each representing different meanings but all commemorating the establishment of the nation. These celebrations remind us of the birth of the state, and people across the world celebrate in various ways. Here, we will introduce a few countries and their national days.
United States Independence Day is celebrated on July 4th, honoring the adoption of the Declaration of Independence in 1776 in Philadelphia. Previously a British colony, the U.S. fought a long struggle for independence. The Declaration affirmed their rights and outlined the transgressions of British colonizers. Americans actively participate in celebrations, with communities and organizations hosting events like parades, fireworks, and outdoor arts shows.
